07-19-11 Hard to believe that I am 65 and backl in Mackinaw to celebraate another Birthday..have done a number of important ones on the Island...we were talking about 15 years ago when we had Aries here and we partied all afternoon with Tito Bicardi, one of the sponsors of the Race. Great guy to party with....this years party started at the 3500 person trophy party on the lower lawn of the Grand Hotel and ended with dinner in town with a cake and all....thanks crew.Without a doubt I sailed this year with some of the fine young men that have come from Erie Pa.....high quality, caring and great sailors. Thanks to my two sons James T. and David, William Dunn of Cleveland, Andrew Bales of NY, NY, John Zurn now in Philadelphia, and my very special sailing partner for many years from Buffalo Jim Whistler....a crew that anyone in the Mac Race would not believe if they knew the level of sailor that was having a great time in a Hinckley 42SW built in 1982.
