07-19-13 Well, after the great victory in the Interclub NYANZA heads out to do the annual Night LightHouse Race from the Lighthouse at EYC down the bay 8 miles ..thru the channel to G1...around to Port close beat to the the mark off the Penninsula Lighthouse and back to the yacht club.
Well...it goes like this......weak crew…no Labron (david) McBrier….Andy Hanks and Fetz and Greg with Beans Mehl and
mixoligist Merwin at the ladder and helping…at start puffy big wind…Andy brought the spin pole way back
to set ..beans cranked back chute……no set behind the jib…Greg didn’t get it up 1/3
way…it filled …shrimped under the bow...sucked water ..torn in half…ran along the boat to the back....cut the tape to keep it from fouling on the prop...It was the new heavy 1 1/2 ox chicken chute......David Bierig our sailmaker has
it at his hospital… then we set another chute, uneventful, ran down the bayto G1..... then
coming up bay at 26knots…postage stamp jib….sheet wraps around the front dorade and tears
it out and goes overboard with spkintered wood......we finished.... No one injured. Retired for a
birthday cocktail. Need I say more!!!!!!!!!Cap Jim
