The
crew of “Nyanza” in a quiet ceremony at the turn at Long Point on June 22, 2013
in the Lake Erie Interclub Cruise threw a wreath in celebration of
the life of our friend and sailor Peter Reyburn. Where upon we all had a toast
of Captain Morgan Rum. During Peters life he passed Long Point, Ontario 49 times and
held the most roundings in the Longpointers Club for the Cruise.
We
are sorry that Peter could not be with us but we are sure that he may have been
responsible for the fair winds and following seas that allowed NYANZA to win
the 2013 Interclub Cruise. I have been trying to do this with 5 boats over 35
years and the Race this year was in tribute to Peter and two other fallen
Longpointers in 2012-13. I am sure he had something to do with it.
