08/19/20 All the excitement is down in Annapolis where Nyanza has been in the paint shed for the past 10 days getting her new beautiful Hull. It's being painted by Annapolis gelcoat owned by Tim Kraus and it's getting a brand new awlgrip job . Here's what they're doing to it. After sanding the boat the matting in the fiberglass showed through so they had to put a new filler primer on it before the final primer . After that they applied the two stripes .... one is the new 2"white stripe on the water line (It was gold before) and the second strip is the gold cove stripe with the beautiful talaria on the bow symbolizing a Hinckley yacht. What is that you might ask . It is the winged sandals of Mercury and a symbol of the Greek God Hermes. Anyway after the stripes were put on the three topcoats are applied.... two regular coats of the flag blue with the third coat being blended with clear coat. All done it will have five coats of material on it . Monday the 17th it came out of the paint shed and I have a few pictures of what it looked like before it left the paint shed and hopefully yesterday the gold leafed name nyanza Erie PA was put on the transom by Chris at Accents Graphics. The final project is to put the bottom paint on after it gets sanded hopefully it will be done on Friday .
Sherry and I will arrive on Sunday to Annapolis to the Jabin yard where we will work Monday and Tuesday to get the rig ready to go back up so that Wednesday we can launch the boat and set the mast . What a production I'm looking forward to sending you pictures of what this beauty is gonna look like. An updated hull #2 from 1982.
