07/26/14 Starting A boathouse
A dedication took place after 4 years of effort by many individuals to arrive at this beautiful Rickloff Community Boathouse. Funny in my life about how fortunate I have been to start a vision and have the satisfaction of seeing it completed. That is how this story started. Back in 2009 with Holly Wolford from Annapolis at the time helped with a vision to start a Foundation. With John Dunn and others we got it going. The EYC Bridge and Board after many hours finally got on board and we went to work. Why a boathouse. It is really very simple. How can we grow education programs in Presque Isle bay when we have nowhere to house them. There is an easy solution and it must involve the community. The Trustees moved forward with a vision. Check out three years of drawings done by Ross Rectenwald, our resident architect. Even with all the drawings and hard work no one was to believe that in a little more than 16 months $1,150,000 was raised and a timberframe boathouse built. Here were a few pics.
