Chili Race Replaces Fall Dover Cruise

10-02-11 Well, one more year the fall cruise to Dover was interupted by heavy weather. Our departure yesterday with Eyerly and Midnight did not happen. How about a beat for 43 miles in 25-35knot winds. Not this captain. So we changed plans, JT was up here to do the cruise as well as Mike Preston from St Louis.
Big party at the Captains house for the NYANZA pirate crew to celebrate another sucessful year of sailing. We think Nyanza posted about 2400 miles on the Great Lakes this year. Not bad.
Today, Sunday was the EYC last race of he season .The Chili race...well it was chilly,not feeling real well JT took the Captains position with, Lillis, Mehl, Preston and Becker for the 45 degree day wind at 20knots around the bay. COLD
Eight boats, the small ones won..Nyanza probably 5th. Butguess what.
Upon landing our man Mike Preston, after working all day yesterday entered his Chili in the great cook off against 12 others and placed second....note the pictures under photo...the moto of the display was "From bowl to bowl" with TP under our sign...it was a beanless St Louis Chili...Wonderful....Thanks Mike. Boat comes out on Friday...another wonderful season coming to an end and Nyanza goes up on the hard. Caotain Jim
