08-23-20 to 08-25-20 NYANZA sails to St Michaels from the
Jabin yard in Annapolis.
Friday……..Tim Mehl and I had an uneventful trip down Friday morning
and it was time to work on getting the
boat ready to sail. What does that mean. Tim off to the market with an
important stop at the liquor and beer store. Meanwhile I started working on checking out some work paul had done while I was
gone. A new head (Toilet for layman) and some new plumbing for the
refrigerator. Paul then helped put the
main and stack pack on. He was a god send.
The crew started assembling on Friday afternoon with JT McBrier arriving with Heather
Sedlacko from Pittsburgh. Evening was coming and we headed into Eastport to
where else…the Boatyard where we had a wonderful crab dinner……….returning back
to the boat we were just in time to greet David and past BMW John Mehl coming
in from New Jersey. John worked a number of summers racing and taking care of
Nyanza as our revised classification “Boat Maintenance Worker”. After a number
of celebration nitecaps the evening ended with 10am assembly For the sail to St
Michaels.
Saturday morning came early and we headed out into the Chesapeake with 3 navigators all looking at their phone because the captain had forgotten about the chip at home we needed for the Chesapeake. Started out windy, around 15k but a beam reach toward the Maryland shore and Kent Island……turn the corner and upwind with a number of zig zags for shoals. Chef Tim Mehl served the ham slammers on rye and the beer started to flow. Heading now toward St Michaels and our dockage at A Dock at the Maritime Museum. What a break..thanks to Tom Seip from Erie who lives in Oxford. He got me fixed up with a membership and helped get us a prime dock. Thanks again To. Arriving around 1530 everyone had a chance to visit the Museum before it closed. I will show you a fewpictures. More to follow........
