Nyanza Comes off the Hard!

The ice is gone, Nyanza gets a new coat of topside wax, the maxprop is back and ready to go.....bottom faired and painted....Friday is splash day. Early spring on the Great Lakes, low water from little snowfall will make it a little more interesting..looks like in Erie it is down 18".

I am pleased to introduce to everyone Dan Grasinger, a sophomore at Gannon studying Computer Engineering, Dan will be taking care of Nyanza and sailing with us for the season. Dan comes from Pittsburgh where his family is in the home building business. Dan has worked a number of summers around residential construction. He will spend the summer in Erie and be responsible for Nyanza. He will be starting in a few weeks after school is over. We will definately turn him into a Pirate!!!! Har Har Har.

Nyanza will spend the summer racing and cruising Lake Erie only this summer and go on the Hard in Erie in early September. Captain Jim is getting a pair of new Knees on September 16th right after the sailing season. Hopefully pain and gimping (not Sniveling) will go away.

I am starting to plan a trip in late May, 2011 to Maine via the Saint Lawrence Seaway and Nova Scotia to arrive at Great Cranberry Island, Maine in mid July and spend the month of August in Maine followed by a trip down to Annapolis for fall sailing before being hauled in that area for the winter. A plan in the works.
